Job summary

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, flexible and highly motivated Podiatrist to join our Podiatry Team in Trafford.

The post holder will have responsibility along with other Senior Practitioners within the team for the organisation and day to day provision of the community and high-risk Podiatry Service. They will demonstrate excellent clinical and operational leadership skills to podiatry colleagues. They will provide line management to the team and support the Service Lead to ensure the safe and effective delivery of the podiatry service.

They will manage a clinical case load of High Risk patients and have advanced skills and knowledge to implement, evaluate and modify highly complex care and interventions. The caseload will include patients with the complications of diabetes, peripheral arterial disease and connective tissue disorders and a significant proportion of the case load will be focused on advanced foot ulcer management.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, and work well as part of a team to strengthen the wider multidisciplinary team of health care professionals across the trust to improve outcomes for the podiatry patients of Trafford.

Main duties of the job

To provide clinical and operational leadership for the High Risk and Community Podiatry team to ensure the safe delivery of the day to day provision of the Podiatry service.

To provide support and guidance to colleagues to assure that work is carried out in a multi-disciplinary way to promote the needs of clients and patients.

The post holder will support the Podiatry Service Lead and other Senior Practitioners, to ensure that governance systems and processes are adhered to and delivered.

This role requires team lead and line management duties.

To manage a clinical case load of patients and have demonstrable skills to implement, evaluate and modify highly complex care and interventions. The caseload will include patients with the complications of diabetes, peripheral arterial disease and connective tissue disorders (not an exhaustive list) with a focus on advanced foot ulcer management.

  • oQualified to practice as a Podiatrist within the NHS Diploma / Degree in Podiatric Medicine.
  • oCurrent registration with Health Care Professions Council as a Podiatrist
  • oCertificate in local analgesia

Desirable

  • oMSc modules relating to high risk foot management in wound care or related areas such as diabetes vascular.
  • oV300 Independent prescribing qualification
