Job summary

There is an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Bereavement Midwife to join and lead the Bereavement Midwifery Team as part of a Job share for 15hours per week at St Mary's Oxford road , Manchester Foundation Trust. This is a team that was developed over 10 years ago and has been recognized nationally as a gold standard of bereavement practice. The post holder will lead the bereavement team in twelve months ago to providing bespoke Specialist bereavement Care to women and their families during pregnancy loss, and in a subsequent pregnancy, within the Managed Clinical Service.

The post holder will have have a fundamental role un supporting the Bereavement matron and working closely with the bereavements teams across the managed clinical service in the delivery of high standards of bereavement and midwifery care, ensuring an environment that is conducive to wellbeing. The post holder has a key leadership and management role and will provide specialist skills and knowledge to support the organization and the delivery of care for patients within the directorate.

Main duties of the job

This position is ideal for an experienced and confident band 6 midwife who is looking to develop skills in managing a team , with a passion for individualised compassionate care wishing to support families through the death of their baby. . Experience in high-risk may be useful, but not essential. Due to workload and clinic schedules there are times when the team manages its own diary, providing a degree of flexibility to meet service users' needs, therefore you need to have the ability to priorities and organize your schedule while working alongside and feeding back to other members of the team.

knowledge and experience of bereavement care would be essential for this role as the post holder would be required to led services and input to service development, further training and support will be provided. Some knowledge and experience of leadership would be desirable but support will be given to all new team members, designed around your development needs, to ensure confident midwifery and bereavement care practice.
