Job summary
We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our Booking and Scheduling team based within North Manchester General Hospital and Manchester Royal Infirmary at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.
This post is on a permanent full-time basis (37.5 hours per week)
The post holder will provide a comprehensive, high quality and efficient administrative, secretarial and surgical scheduling service to the consultant and medical staff in the Head and Neck Department. To ensure patients receive their surgical intervention in a timely manner according to clinical need and Trust priorities.
Main duties of the job
To ensure provision of a comprehensive, high quality and efficient theatre scheduling service and to the Consultant Surgeons
As directed by the Operational Manager, to manage own day-to-day workload, ensuring that priorities are identified and dealt with and that problems are resolved as quickly as possible.
To contact patients informing them of suitable procedure dates and directing patients to the relevant clinical team if further clinical information is required
To ensure that patients receive their surgical intervention within appropriate times scales according to clinical need and trust priority and ensuring that perioperative assessments are booked in advance of surgery
To work as part of a team ensuring that adequate arrangements for cover are in place for own planned absence and there is full participation in cover for colleagues during planned absence, sickness or workload pressures.
To act as point of contact in dealing with complex telephone calls and enquiries regarding appointment/theatre scheduling promptly and efficiently, referring on as necessary
Preparation of information for/participation in weekly theatre scheduling meeting including liaison with appropriate Team Leader in advance of theatre scheduling meetings regarding equipment requirements/special requests for any lists within speciality
