Specialist Occupational Therapist - Rheumatology

Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-motivated and forward-thinking Occupational Therapist to join the Rheumatology Therapy Team in Oxford Road Campus ( Manchester Royal Infirmary). This outpatient post will involve working collaboratively with a senior Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapists and a Rehabilitation Assistant, caring for patients who are under the care of the wider Rheumatology Team. The post holder will have experience of outpatient settings, including previous work in MSK settings and have experience of outpatient caseload management. Previous experience of splinting would be desirable.

The ability to work in a fast-paced environment is essential, as is having excellent communication skills. The post holder will link in with outpatient Occupational Therapy peers across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for their clinical caseload in the Rheumatology outpatient setting, in both individual and class based settings.To perform specialist assessment and treatment of patients and determine a clinical diagnosis, develop, implement, evaluate and modify individualised treatment programmes, ensuring appropriate pathways of care and communication via liaison and referral to other agencies as required. The patient will present with acute or chronic conditions, some of which may be complex.To engage with senior staff/managers with information to assist the planning and development of the service, to achieve the departmental objectives.
