An exciting opportunity has arisen for Highly Specialist Pharmacist within the WTWA hospitals (part of part of the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust) and we are looking for an enthusiastic highly motivated clinical pharmacist to join the pharmacy team supporting the Medical Division.
The successful candidate will support medicines optimisation & service developments, drive the delivery of risk management, patient safety and quality improvement initiatives within the division and demonstrate good leadership skills. This varied and challenging role presents a great opportunity to make a real difference to patient care, demonstrate your ability to innovate and implement change following the introduction of HIVE and to lead, support and progress the pharmacy services across the Trust.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for providing and developing high quality, patient focused, clinical pharmacy services to the complex health directorate. Based at Trafford General Hospital, you will work across Wythenshawe and Trafford hospitals, supporting both the development of the service, and the junior pharmacists who provide day to day clinical services to the site.
You will regularly participate in consultants led ward rounds, provide expert medicines advice to staff and patients, review medication incidents & clinical guidelines, whilst ensuring key governance priorities are met around high-risk drugs, polypharmacy, frailty and falls risk reduction in a growing elderly population.
In addition to having a good understanding of medicine, you must be dynamic, resilient, and be able to manage and motivate others. You will have the ability to influence the multidisciplinary team and engage with key stakeholders and develop initiatives to support patient flow.
This role will also have some site lead responsibilities, and you will work collaboratively with pharmacy colleagues across MFT to review and optimise how TGH pharmacy services are delivered following the implementation of HIVE.
You will participate in the departments weekend and late night rotas
This role would be perfect for a dedicated, flexible, innovative pharmacist who wants to balance remaining integral to a clinical service with having the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and / or implement change
