Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Wheelchair Therapist to join a multidisciplinary team of Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists, Rehabilitation Engineers, technicians, and therapy assistant at the Specialised Ability Centre Manchester. One of the leading NHS Centres in the UK covering a client base of approximately 10,000 patients; we provide assessment and provision of wheeled mobility to all age ranges and complex presentations.
The role will involve lone working and clinic based appointments. Having recently expanded our clinical area and disability facilities here at the centre, we now have a designated paediatric room which is fully equipped to support our paediatric client base and enhance their experience during assessment and fitting of mobility equipment.
The wheelchair team aim to assess and prescribe appropriate equipment in a timely manner and to work closely with our multi-agency partners including, social services, education authority and wider NHS teams.

The post is advertised as full time however, part time will be considered.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, a team player who will rise to the challenge of working in a dynamic and evolving service and above all has a passion for supporting patients with complex needs. As a member of the wider multi-disciplinary team you will be working alongside and supporting a specialist team of therapists, rehab engineers, technicians, therapy assistants and an administration team, all of whom take pride in their ability to make a real difference to patients lives.

This post is based at The Specialised Ability Centre and will require at times lone working in the community.
