Job summary

The Child and Adolescent Services Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Home Intensive Treatment Team (HITT) provides packages of person-centred community (at home) interventions to support young people (aged 11-18) and those that care for them.

The young people we support are typically experiencing a mental health crisis, often with increased risk of harm. We are therefore keen to attract qualified practitioners who are passionate, dynamic, ideally skilled in crisis management, de-escalation, collaborative risk management, and therapeutic care planning. We will use your skills to offer bespoke packages of care/treatment/therapy to help keep young people stay safe in the community and reduce their risk of A&E attendance, placement breakdown, or psychiatric hospital admission. These packages of care are intensive, usually delivered across multiple session each week for up to 6 weeks.

This is an exciting opportunity to get involved while we continue to develop this new, award winning service and help shape the crisis support for young people and ultimately improve their lifelong well-being.

We welcome applications from anyone who feels they can develop the skills required for this post. If you are a registered nurse (of any discipline), social worker, or occupational therapist and are keen for a change, we would support you to develop within our supportive team. We can offer a bespoke introduction and training plan in Children's and Young Peoples Mental Health Services.

Main duties of the job

Work collaboratively with our core CAMHS and other Mental Health Services across the system as well as Acute and/or Specialist Hospitals, the Police, Education and Social Care.

Work directly with children and young people with mental health needs and those who care for them. Conduct psychosocial and risk assessments, and identify strategies and creative interventions to help children and young people participate in normal family and community activities and to facilitate positive outcomes in relation to young people's mental health needs, ensuring that they are supported to remain in their own homes, while providing long lasting life skills and resilience to future crisis episodes.

To be responsible for an agreed caseload. Case loads will be small and due to the nature of the service, support will be provided from across the team to utilise the excellent variety of skills and expertise that each memebr of team can offer. All clinicians will have a responsibility to provide input and support into each other's case load.

This is an extended hours service which will involve shifts including weekends and evenings. There is no current requirement to work nights, current operational hours are 8am - 8pm 7 days per week, this may change as the service develops.

The CAMHS directorate in Manchester Foundation Trust (MFT) is made up of a number of small community services and one inpatient unit, we are a friendly and very supportive team of around 500 staff in total.
