There is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to support the establishment, operational management, and long-term sustainability of the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust NIHR HealthTech Research Centre (MFT-HRC).

The fundamental purpose of NIHR Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) HealthTech Research Centre (HRC) is to transform urgent and emergency care by developing and deploying new technologies for the detection, diagnosis and monitoring of disease and embedding these technologies in the way that health and care services look after patients. MFT-HRC will bring together companies, NHS clinicians, academics, the public and patients to test and commercialise new healthcare technologies aimed at improving urgent and emergency care in the community and the hospital. These technologies will benefit patients and funders by ensuring that diseases are diagnosed earlier and appropriate treatments are provided sooner so that patients get optimal care through planned services.

This role is vital to the success of this programme which will support the delivery of HealthTech development projects, building on clinical themes covering primary care, community setting and secondary care, and methodological themes around HealthTech Assessment.

Main duties of the job

Working within the Innovation team, the post holder will be expected to drive the delivery of the MFT-HRC programme, theme projects and objectives, and arising projects with commercial partners, whilst developing and implementing processes and systems to manage project information.The post holder will provide accurate, timely and high-quality reports on project progress and outputs against forecasts and strategic aims both internally (including to the R&I senior management team) and to external bodies (National Institute of Health Research (NIHR)).The post holder will work with MFT-HRC Theme leads & Co-Leads, programme leads and key clinical staff to identify and overcome risks to ensure successful delivery of MFT-HRC projects and objectives.The post holder will work with senior Research and Innovation staff within the Trust and University, with the R&I Management Team and with other internal functions (e.g. finance, HR, procurement) and external partners (including the NIHR, local SMEs, multinational companies, charities, other Trusts and members of the HRC Network) to identify and progress HealthTech opportunities, and develop and deliver projects which add value to MFT, the University, the wider NHS and patients/ local population.
