Job summary

Exciting opportunity to b e part of a small but vital team working with special needs school nurses and the wider Children's Community Nursing services to provide support to children on home enteral feeds.

Post holder will work within a team and individually as a dietetic assistant supporting clinical paediatric dietitians working in the Local Care organisation. The post holder will work independently without direct supervision. Regular supervision is readily available. Car Driver/Owner and access to a vehicle for work every day is required.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dietetic assistant to join our small, friendly, and dynamic community team.

This is a varied and interesting role which incorporates both patient facing work such as visiting patients at home and at clinical appointments; obtaining weights/heights; reviewing patients by telephone to check progress with feeding regimens; as well as office based tasks such as managing appointments, registering and managing patients orders for home enteral feeding equipment, handling enquiries, general team organisation and contribution to project work.

Based within the special needs school and community nursing team, we are responsible for providing dietetic support to infants and children who have complex health conditions and/or learning disabilities and whorequire tube feeding at home.

We work closely with the children, carers and families that we care for, and we also work alongside a broad multidisciplinary team including paediatricians, children's community nurses, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, health visitors, and social workers; and we have good links with the hospital dietitians at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital and the surrounding community teams.

This post would ideally suit a person with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills who is looking for an opportunity to be an essential member of a forward-thinking and supportive dietetic service.
