Job summary
The Nightingale Centre, has vacancies for full/part -time Mammographers to join their friendly and busy breast radiology multi-professional team. We offer a state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment service and co-ordinate the NHS breast screening program (NHSBSP) for the Manchester area. It is also an NHSBSP National Training Centre for mammography and is home to the National Breast Imaging Academy (NBIA).
Our department is committed to Radiographer role extension and CPD. We have Advanced Practitioners undertaking stereo interventional procedures and film-reading, Mammography Associates performing screening and symptomatic mammography and the role of the Clinical Expert Radiographer has been successfully implemented.
The Manchester BSP covers a wide geographical area, It is essential you are willing to travel to all screening sites.
A flexible approach to work will be required as weekend and evening sessions are often scheduled to meet the demands of the expanding screening population and symptomatic workload.
You must have HCPC registration as a Radiographer. A Postgraduate Award in Mammography is preferable, although training will be considered for the right applicant (Band 5 whilst in training).

Main duties of the job
The post holder will assist in the provision and delivery of the NHS BSP .This includes well woman screening mammography on the target population to National Standards, on both mobile and static units in the community.
In addition you will be involved with Family History screening, assessment, follow-up and symptomatic mammography within the Nightingale Centre. Further requirements include assisting in stereo-tactic interventional and Magnetic Resonance Imaging biopsy procedures.
As a qualified mammographer supervision and training of students, trainee Mammographers and Assistant Practitioners is a requirement.
A mammographer is expected to produce high quality images in a safe and caring manner. It necessitates working within a multidisciplinary team to provide the highest standards of patient care.
