Job summary

Mortuary Services at MFT is looking for two full time Mortuary Support Workers to join our mortuary team. The mortuary service at MFT includes the adult mortuaries at Oxford Road, Wythenshawe Hospital ,Trafford General Hospital, North Manchester Hospital and also the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital Paediatric mortuary. This is one of the largest mortuary services in the country, performing approximately 1800 post mortems per year. The adult mortuary performs hospital and Coronial post mortem services and the RMCH mortuary provides a regional Coronial and Home Office post mortem service. The MFT mortuaries are fully HTA and UKAS accredited. We are looking for a two motivated, hard working people to join the mortuary team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will undertake a wide range of duties which will include:

  • Assisting with the day to day running of the mortuary
  • Mortuary Administration
  • Receipt and Release of deceased patients from the hospital and community
  • Organise and facilitate family visits
  • Communicate with bereaved families, Coroners Officers, Police and employees from MFT and other external Trusts.
  • General cleaning duties within the mortuary
