Job summary
Applications are invited for a locum Consultant Neonatologist post based with the Connect NW Neonatal Transport Service, hosted by St Marys Hospital, to commence as possible. We are about to move into fantastic new facilities at the centre of the NW Region near Warrington which really advance the service. Further consultant development with a substantive post in Neonatal Transport is planned imminently.
Connect NW is a dedicated Neonatal Transport Service, working to provide high quality support equitably across the NW Neonatal Operational Delivery Network. Developed with one cot bureau, leadership and governance structure, the service has the highest activity of a neonatal transport service in the UK, and has been designed to providethe highest quality, seamless care across the region.
The service has a core of highly experienced Neonatal Transport nurses and Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners and has a strong track record of innovation and multidisciplinary teamworking. The service has a number of transport incubator systems providing all modes of ventilation including high frequency oscillation and nitric oxide; active cooling in transport and has recently implemented a new Transport Clinical InformationSystem. In addition to providing direct clinical support, the locum consultant will be expected to contribute to clinical governance, management and assist in setting up a programme of outreach teaching for pre-transport stabilisation across the North West region.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a forward-thinking Neonatologist who has a commitment to Neonatal Transport and enjoys working within a strong and supportive team. Full or part time applications are invited from candidates with wide experience and training in neonatology and recent experience in Neonatal Transport.Applicants will either need to be on the GMC Specialist Register or be eligible for CCT (or equivalent) within six months of interview. Post-holders must be prepared to work across both transport bases in Manchester and Liverpool, and must have previous substantive experience of working within a dedicated neonatal transport service. Skills in teaching, leading a team and communicating with multidisciplinary colleagues are vital.
