Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our expanding Cancer Services team at North Manchester General Hospital. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to provide administrative support to the cancer multidisciplinary team/s (MDTs) within North Manchester General Hospital (NMGH). Working with the multidisciplinary team and other key stakeholders to ensure patients are moved swiftly through their diagnostic/treatment pathways whist ensuring adherence to national waiting time standards and ensuring all associated MDT data is appropriately recorded.We are looking for an innovative, enthusiastic and dynamic individual who is well organised and motivated to join our cancer team. You must enjoy working in a busy environment and be able to prioritise your own workload. You will need good interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team, be IT literate, and able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Previous knowledge of working in a relevant hospital-based role and/or in a clerical role, alongside an understanding of National Cancer NHS waiting time targets would be desirable.

You will work with a range of staff including Consultant Surgeons, Physicians, Radiologists, Pathologists, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Pathway Navigators, Trackers, amongst others, as well as external Trusts.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the cancer multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) within North Manchester General Hospital (NMGH), will be responsible for the co-ordination of Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) Meetings and will attend these meetings, obtaining and recording relevant information and typing patient outcomes during the meeting.

The post holder will be required to monitor and track patients from referral to treatment against National Targets as required within the specialty, liaising with all staff levels to assist the patients' journey and to assist the Cancer Services Team and the Trust in meeting the standard key indicators.The post holder will work within local and national guidelines e.g. National Cancer Waiting Times, National Cancer Quality Assurance (Peer Review), network agreed referral protocols and any internal escalation policy.The post holder will be required to liaise closely with Trust wide clinical teams and work collaboratively within the Cancer Services team ensuring the consistent delivery of service. It is essential that the post holder will be able to work flexibly as part of a team to deliver the service requirement.
