Job summary

Manchester Foundation Trust is seeking enthusiastic, compassionate sonographers for our North Manchester General site. It is a really exciting time for North Manchester as we joined the MFT family in April 2021 to provide single hospital model services for the residents of the City of Manchester. This along with the planned development of the new hospital on this site in the coming 5 years make North Manchester an attractive place to work.

Ideally you should be fully qualified in all aspects of obstetric, gynaecology and general medicine ultrasound and candidates who have additional experience in MSK or paediatric ultrasound are especially welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

The department is busy carrying out over 46,000 scans per year split between obstetric and non-obstetric scanning, with a wide variety of examinations and patient conditions seen daily.

Support is available from an enthusiastic Management team, Clinical Experts and Clinical Lead Radiologists who are extremely supportive of developing both our services and staff.

As a Trust we are committed to training through to completion of the post graduate course and currently 5 students are in training supported by our dedicated Ultrasound Clinical Tutor, there will be opportunities for the appointee to participate in shaping the future of sonographers within the Trust.

This post attracts a recruitment and retention Premia. RRP is payable at £2000 per annum (pro rata for part time staff). Employees in sonographer posts would be eligible for the payment following a period of 1 years completed service in post with the Trust, from the commencement of the allowance, and for subsequent completed periods of 12 months service thereafter for a period of 3 years.

We set standards that other Trusts seek to emulate so you'll benefit from a scale of opportunity that is nothing short of extraordinary.
