Job summary
To work in one of the dedicated pool porter posts in the porters' roster, providing a comprehensive hospital portering service.
Duties include transfer of patients between wards and departments, movement of deceased patients, equipment, consumables, catering products and trolleys, mail, case notes, specimens, medical gases, linen and furniture.
Main duties of the job
Move patients by bed, trolley and wheelchair as directed by department staff in accordance with agreed procedures.Move case request forms, specimens, medicines, equipment, furniture and other itemsbetween wards and departments in line with agreed procedures.Respond to non-scheduled task instructions from the Helpdesk via the handheld device. Ensure non-scheduled task response and completion times are recorded on the handheld device. Report any issues with or delays to the task so that a full audit trail is maintained.
