An excellent opportunity has arisen for two ambitious and enthusiastic individuals to join the Clinical Procurement Team at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, one of the largest acute Trust's in the UK. The team offer support to all hospital sites and clinical specialties across the Trust and are based at Trafford General Hospital.
The team provide a proactive, efficient, and responsive service, with emphasis on procuring value for money, generating non-pay savings for the Trust in accordance with divisional cost efficiency targets.
This is a developmental Band 5 Buyer role, offering a real commitment to supporting your career in an environment where your skills and ideas are valued, and where your buying capabilities will be developed to their full potential using a specifically designed skills and training pathway resulting in a guaranteed Band 6 Senior Buyer position on completion.
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate they have the essential buying skills to support and drive excellent customer service to contribute to the strategic aims of the organisation.
This is an office-based role, that currently and informally allows two days per week, working from home. The successful candidate will be required to travel to site(s) a minimum of three days per week. This is subject to change depending on requirements of the Trust.
Band 5 Starting Salary: £28,407
Band 6 Starting Salary: £35,392 - Depending on ability to demonstrate experience and knowledge.
Main duties of the job
To provide dedicated support to the Purchasing team in the delivery of divisional savings workplans across all areas of non-pay expenditure for all clinical goods and services.
To support divisions and directorates in adhering to procurement legislation and Trust Standing Financial Instructions (SFI's), awarding robust, compliant contracts with relevant and manageable Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).
Analysis of non-pay expenditure to identify opportunities for cost savings and supply chain efficiencies through standardisation and rationalisation.
The roles hold responsibility for undertaking complex and high value procurement exercises and associated contract negotiations on behalf of the Trust.
The successful candidates will ensure a courteous and high-quality service is delivered, whilst working with sensitivity and an understanding of the issues facing front line staff.
