Job summary

The post holder will be expected to provide detailed specialist thoracic screening and lung cancer knowledge and care to patients and their carers. They will act as a source of specialist advice in the nursing management of patients in their specialist area who require a high level of judgment, discretion and decision-making whilst as an inpatient/outpatient or ina setting external to the Trust. The post holder will provide education and training to patients, carers and healthcare professionals.

Main duties of the job

Specialist Nurse screening Band 7

37.5 Hours permanent position

Applications are invited for the above post within the successful greater Manchester lung cancer screening Team based at Wythenshawe Hospital.

We require an experienced enthusiastic, flexible, and self-motivated qualified nurse who has an interest in and awareness of lung cancer screening to lead the nursing lung cancer screening team.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate others. They will be able to work autonomously, and link in with other healthcare teams and professionals.

The post consists of dedicated time to clinical practice, seeing patients, running telephone clinics, working within the lung cancer screening team, some teaching / training, as well as providing advice to other multidisciplinary team colleagues across the Trust.

The Greater Manchester lung cancer screening program will be working across sites within the North Manchester and Tameside area as well as being based at Wythenshawe hospital, you will be required to be able to travel to work across all sites
