Locum Consultant in Respiratory Medicine (LTVS & Sleep)

Job summary

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join the long-term ventilation service and Sleep department at Wythenshawe hospital. This post has been created to support the recovery plan for both services during the COVID-19 pandemic and offers the post holder extensive experience in LTVS and Sleep with no general respiratory ward cover or on call / out of hours activity scheduled. You will join our team of 7 consultants in LTVS and 5 consultants in Sleep and the specialist multidisciplinary teams. Although some experience in both specialities is desirable it is expected the post holder will learn the specialist skills required for both specialities within post and actively contribute to pathway design and implementation of existing services.

Wythenshawe is a regional tertiary referral centre and is pivotal in driving change and networks across the North West of the UK. Out-patient and in-patient care will be shared alongside existing colleagues. These post holders will be actively involved in the organisation and delivery of the service working with a vibrant team

Main duties of the job

Wythenshawe Hospital is a major teaching hospital with a large academic commitment. The appointee will take an active role in UG and PG medical education and will be expected to take on the role of educational supervisor for trainees. In addition they will participate in audit, research and service development.

  • Fully registered Medical Practitioner
  • MRCP or equivalent
  • Within 6 months of receiving CCST in Thoracic Medicine or equivalent

  • Post-graduate thesis
