Job summary

This post is positioned within the School Health Services, part of the Children's Community Health Services Division in the Manchester Local Care Organisation. The School Health Services consist of School Nursing, Healthy Schools, Accident Prevention and Child and Family Weight Management services. They operate citywide across Manchester working in partnership with schools to improve the health outcomes of children, young people and their families. Comprising of five child focused functions, namely; Immunisation; National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) and Screening; Safeguarding; Healthy Schools Programme; and the Healthy Child Programme, the School Health Service contributes to tackling health inequalities by addressing the city's key public health priorities for children.

Main duties of the job

This Head of Service post is one of three Head of Service positions which provide clinical and operational leadership for the School Health Service. The Head of Service will have specific responsibility for clinical leadership, performance, staff, finance, resource and information management of Healthy Schools Programme Function and the NCMP and Screening Function and Accident Prevention Programme, cover to the other aspects of School health would be expected. In addition this is a championing role with responsibility for establishing relationships and influencing stakeholders to ensure a common and coordinated approach is taken by clinical and non-clinical colleagues on commissioner specified public health priorities.

Working citywide, the Head of Service postholder will work together with their colleagues and the Lead Manager to ensure effective leadership team for the School Health Service
