A fantastic opportunity to jointly co-ordinate and lead the Manchester Paediatric cochlear and auditory brainstem Implant service. We are the largest hearing implant programme in the UK and include adult, adolescent and paediatric services. We are one of only two centres in the UK that provide auditory brainstem implants for children. We are housed in a state-of-the-art centre and the department is unique in providing all audiology services under one management structure. We are looking for a dynamic, experienced clinician to jointly lead the paediatric implant service and its multidisciplinary team of audiologists, speech and language therapists and teachers of the deaf. You will have specialist training and experience in auditory implantation and a proven track record of service delivery and leading change. The paediatric hearing implant service attracts complex cases from throughout the region, nationally and internationally. You will have the opportunity to use your advanced knowledge, experience and personal interests to lead in this highly specialist service.

Successful candidates should have a minimum of MSc in Audiology, Speech and Language Therapy or possess a Teacher of the Deaf qualification with experience of working in a clinical setting. You will also have and an equivalent recognised higher level of training and experience in cochlear implants.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have joint overall responsibility for managing and coordinating the paediatric cochlear and brainstem implant programme and be part of a multi-professional team consisting of consultant ENT surgeons, audiologists, speech therapists, teacher of the deaf and administration staff. The post holder will work closely with other clinical staff involved in the care and management of babies and young children referred to the programme, providing a comprehensive specialist service for children diagnosed with severe and profound sensori-neural hearing loss.
