Job summary

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join the Microbiology Department in the Division of Laboratory Medicine. The successful candidate will be providing a high quality and efficient secretarial service to the consultant team.

Applicants must be able to use their own initiative, work under pressure, keep to strict deadlines, and have excellent organisational and communication skills. It is important to be able to work flexibly within the team. Previous secretarial experience within a hospital environment would be advantageous.

This post will be based at Manchester Royal Infirmary. Hours will be 9.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday per week.

Main duties of the job

You will play an essential role within the team, helping to maintain and when necessary, improve good working practices.

You will be expected to provide cover for team members as per service needs.

You will be expected to manage the day-to-day workload, ensuring that priorities are identified and dealt with and problems are resolved as quickly as possible

You will be expected to manage the diaries of the consultant team and arrange meetings, prepare appropriate paperwork and take minutes.
