Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Interventional Radiographer to advance their career at one of country's largest Trusts with an excellent reputation for teaching and research. MFT is a tertiary centre for hepato-biliary and renal services as well as being a Vascular Hub for vascular IR, vascular surgery and endovascular surgery serving a population of 1.8m.
The successful candidate would provide Radiographic support to the Interventional service across 2 sites, Manchester Royal Infirmary and Wythenshawe Hospital. Following a period of training the successful applicant would also be part of the award winning Advanced Practice team performing tunnelled line insertions, picc line insertions, nephrostomy exchanges and gastrostomy exchange.
Applicants must possess a degree or a diploma in Diagnostic Radiography and be HCPC registered. Extensive experience in Interventional Radiology is essential and evidence of further study would be an advantage.
Candidates should be enthusiastic, flexible, forward thinking and highly motivated. They should demonstrate good communication skills and work well as part of a team.

The successful candidate would be expected to participate in the 24/7 out of hours, non-residential on-call service and must be prepared to work flexible shifts.
Main duties of the job
Assist in the delivery of all aspects of the service provided within the angiographic and special procedures suites, including the hybrid theatres.
Work within a multidisciplinary team using highly sophisticated, specialised equipment. The responsibilities of the post include patient care, patient and equipment positioning and acquisition, manipulation and archive of images.
The procedures involve the use of a wide range of expensive, sterile consumables and a detailed knowledge of these is required.
Both angiography and specialised interventional procedures are high radiation dose examinations and minimising radiation dose to the patient, operator and other staff present during the procedure is a critical responsibility of the post.
As a senior radiographer with specialist skills the post holder is expected to assist in the training, supervision and support of more junior colleagues and act as a super user for the X ray equipment.
Participate in the out of hours rota.
Extended Role
As part of an initiative to respond to waiting lists, improve the service and extend the scope of the experienced Interventional Radiographer, the post carries additional responsibilities and training requirements to allow the post-holder to undertake the insertion of tunnelled and peripherally placed central lines and any other extended role as required by the service, for example nephrostomy exchanges.
