Job summary

This is a new opportunity for an experienced physiotherapist to combine EBP, knowledge and skills in the holistic management of patients with CF/Bronchiectasis, taking a lead in exercise and management of MSK complications.

The post is for a permanent band 7 to provide predominantly out-patient/outreach care via a range of platforms, to support children and young people with CF, PCD and bronchiectasis manage their airway clearance and meet exercise goals. Cover for in-patient CF and respiratory patients to support training is required alongside cover for critical care in the event of planned or unplanned absence.

You will have gained substantial clinical experience within respiratory care with previous experience in CF or Bronchiectasis or have extensive adult respiratory experience in an acute setting. You will provide comprehensive respiratory assessment and treatment to patients with complex presentations. You should also be able to demonstrate an understanding of exercise physiology and testing alongside experience in the assessment and treatment of a range of MSK conditions. You will have completed a broad base of rotations within an acute hospital setting including critical care and MSK and have participated in an overnight on-call service. We work very closely within the multidisciplinary team, giving a holistic approach to care from diagnosis to transition.

Please note that participation in the physiotherapy respiratory out of hour's service is part of the role.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate should have experience leading service developments and quality initiatives. The post involves the line management and education of rotational staff, students and staff contributing to the respiratory out of hours service and therefore the ability to recognise training needs and address staff competency is essential.

You will provide education, advice and support to members of the MDT, patients and parents/carers and be able to respond to and resolve complaints professionally and effectively with excellent communication skills. Patient motivation and adherence management are key skills required for this post.

With excellent organisational and problem-solving skills you will thrive in a busy environment prioritising a busy workload and coping well under pressure. There is a comprehensive in-house appraisal system and multiple learning opportunities as the department is actively involved in audit and research. You will be supported by experienced clinical leads offering clinical and professional advice and feedback supporting your professional and personal development.
