Job summary

Applications are invited for a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine to join the Amputee and Prosthetic Rehabilitation department at The Specialised Ability Centre (SACM) which is part of Manchester University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (MFT)where you will join a team of 2 Consultants in amputee and prosthetic rehabilitation.

This Consultant post is available with a predominant amputee and prosthetic rehabilitation component and a potential role in neuro-rehabilitation. We are happy to negotiate the role of the job plan with the successful candidates.

To be eligible for consideration candidates must be on the GMC Specialist Register or be a Specialty Trainee within six months of their CCT date at the time of interview.

Main duties of the job

Provision of Amputee Rehabilitation clinics within our large sub-regional Specialised Ability Centre Manchester (SACM) which has a Consultant led, established specialist multidisciplinary team. SACM has superb separate site facilities with Amputee/Orthotic/Specialist Seating clinics and on-site workshop. It is one of the largest such centres in Europe.

Other responsibilities may involve support for the Neuro-rehabilitation Unit at Trafford General Hospital and overseeing the vascular/ amputee ward round in Manchester Vascular Centre in Manchester Royal Infirmary. There is also a potential requirement to provide a weekly SLA cover at other North West/ North Wales prosthetic centres e.g. Wrexham.
