The Principal Analyst is responsible for the provision of accurate, timely and high-quality information to support and inform the business information requirements of the Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI).

The Principal Analyst will be required to proactively provide specialised advice on information for patient access management, business planning and service delivery. Provide informatics expertise to the MRI using the Trust's information resources, bespoke analysis and the establishment of new information requirements and reports.

The MRI was formed on 1st October 2017 following the merger of Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM). We provide a wide range of services from comprehensive local general hospital care through to highly specialised regional and national services CART, Gene Therapy, BMT's and Renal Transplants

Main duties of the job

This exciting opportunity will give the successful candidate the responsibility to:

  • Work closely with the Corporate and Operational teams to provide analytical support to determine future pressures against key deliverables, particularly in relation to the NHS plan and locally commissioned targets.
  • Lead analytical work within MRI to assess capacity and demand for each clinical service, identifying areas of service pressure, undertaking gap analysis and support the production of option appraisals.
  • Provide detailed analysis to model demand, resources and throughput to ensure appropriate balance of provision and to identify variances between supply and demand to facilitate discussions of service change, provision or development.
  • Lead on all divisional analysis issues relating to the RTT programme and its delivery, including patient mapping and related implications in terms of activity deliverables and effect upon PbR.
  • Assist the MRI to interpret the available data and provide a judgement on actual performance and the ability to deliver operational plans, using predictive modelling techniques.
  • Work alongside the CSU's including HR and Finance to investigate and respond appropriately to queries from internal and external sources in relation to reports provided by the MRI.
  • Provide regular information reports and analysis on key clinical and performance indicators and data quality standards
