Job summary

The job will be based in the Paediatric Emergency Department (PED) which is the emergency department in Central Manchester within Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. The department manages urgent and emergency care for children under the age of 16 years from the local area, with complex tertiary patients attending to access the specialist services in the busiest children's hospital in Europe. The department is also the regional Major Trauma Centre and receives patients regionally via air ambulance where appropriate.

The post holder will be supported by an established team of ACP's working within the department and a wider governance group of ACP's across the hospital, alongside a robust operational management team, senior nursing structure and consultant supervision. The post holder will demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making and expert care, including assessment and diagnostic skills, for children and young people attending PED. They will ensure that evidence based practice is inherent in all aspects of care and treatment and ensure this knowledge is disseminated throughout the clinical area, Trust and externally, as appropriate.The post holder will work collaboratively with medical, nursing and allied health professions and deliver on the trusts research and innovation agenda.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join Royal Manchester Children's Hospital Paediatric Accident and Emergency Department (PED).

We are looking for an experienced, motivated individual who has worked at a senior level to provide operational and clinical leadership within an acute care setting. It is essential that you are able to work autonomously and provide strong leadership, professional advice and clinical expertise.

As an autonomous practitioner you will take an active role in the advanced clinical assessment of a patient including history taking, diagnosis, treatment planning, prescribing and evaluation.

Enthusiasm and commitment to quality service development is essential for this post.

An in depth knowledge of care management and being able to motivate, influence and support medical teams and nursing staff to deliver on essential elements of clinical care will be key to this role. An extensive knowledge and understanding of clinical governance issues and strategies to manage risk is essential.
