Job summary

We are looking to appoint a number of enthusiastic individuals to join our established team of on-call crisis workers at our Manchester Sexual Assault Referral Centre

This is a zero hours contract offering on-call services 24 hours a day across a variety of shifts, we require all successful applicants to be able to cover all shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.

You will be expected to offer a minimum of one shift per week or four on call shifts per month offering on-call from 5pm until 8am during the week or cover at the weekend/Bank holidays (over a variety of 8hr shifts).

You will be paid an on call fixed shift payment & £13.60 per hour for call outs and telephone calls taken.

The successful applicants will receive full training to enable them to provide crisis support to adults and young people attending for forensic examination/medical assessment and out of hours telephone support and information.

You will have some previous experience of working with people in a supportive role.

You will have some understanding of safeguarding and possess a calming influence in stressful crisis situations. You must be highly organised, self motivated and able to work effectively on your own initiative as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.

You must be able to attend the Manchester SARC within 30-60 minutes of a call out, be able to drive and have a clean driving license.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide Crisis Support to clients during a forensic examination
  • Ensure forensic integrity and cleaning of the suite following an examination
  • 24 hour advice line cover

The post holder will provide out of hours Crisis Worker cover within Manchester Sexual Assault Referral Centre, providing the initial support to individuals who have recently been victims of rape and sexual assault within the context of a non-judgemental and confidential service. The post holder will provide crisis management for patients that attend the Centre for a forensic medical examination outside of normal office hours.

The out of hours crisis workers will work on a rota basis between the hours of 5pm and 8am Monday-Friday and weekend/bank hol cover, 8am-4pm & 4pm - Midnight & Midnight to 8am. The post holder would be expected to work a minimum of 4 on call shifts per month.

The post holder will provide services to victims of rape and sexual assault within the context of a non-judgemental and confidential service.

The post holder will provide telephone support and information and crisis management to clients attending for a forensic medical examination and assist the forensic physician within the medical room.

The post holder will be offered the opportunity to attend group supervision for good health and well being and monthly team meetings to share best practise, the expectation that 6 sessions must be attended within a 12 month period.
