An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our expanding BCSP Endoscopist team as a Bowel Cancer Screening JAG accredited Nurse Endoscopist within Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust Bowel Cancer Screening Programme on a permanent basis.
Our endoscopy units are based at Manchester Royal Infirmary, Withington Community Hospital, and Trafford General Hospital, you will be based at Manchester Royal Infirmary within the screening hub but will be expected to undertake Bowel Cancer Screening endoscopy lists at all 3 endoscopy sites.
Main duties of the job
Your role is responsible for the efficient and effective provision of non-medical BCSP endoscopy in conjunction with other members of the multidisciplinary team (MDT), working with the MDT and contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality endoscopy services.
You will independently undertake diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy as part of the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme and be expected to deliver up to 6 Bowel Cancer Screening endoscopy sessions per week with cross site working at the 3 sites (potentially over a 7 day working week on a rota basis).
As our BCSP Nurse Endoscopist you will use advanced level practice to encompass aspects of education, research and management. The role is firmly grounded in direct care provision or clinical work with patients, families, and populations. You will be expected to use your expertise, experience, professional and clinical judgment and demonstrate the expert nature of your practice and the depth of your knowledge daily in all aspects of the role. As an expert practitioner, you will also lead / actively engage in clinical audit +/or research related to the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.

JOB PURPOSEThe post holder will provide clinical expertise in lower gastrointestinal screeningendoscopy. They will be able to diagnose significant colorectal lesions and whereapplicable undertake endoscopic therapeutic interventions.The post holder will be able to work autonomously having the necessary experience,training, skills and knowledge to support and advise the wider bowel cancer screeningteam in the selection, assessment, management and treatment of individuals participatingin the bowel cancer screening programme.A major responsibility of the post holder will be to provide the necessary leadership,training and teaching to support further recruitment, development, mentorship andpreparation to secure expansion of both the medical and non-medical workforce to meetdemand of the national bowel screening programme currently and in the future. The localservice provides screening across two trusts, the post holder will provide screeningcolonoscopy across all accredited hospital sites
