Job summary

An excellent Band 6 opportunity has arisen within the Haematology Team on 84 Out-patients department at The Royal Manchester Children's Hospital for a Haematology Nurse Specialist . We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 RSCN/RN Child with significant experience within the field of Paediatric benign haematology. You must have excellent communication and organisational skills and be enthusiastic about delivering the highest standards of safe patient care.

The successful applicant will be involved in planning and managing patient care and providing specialist knowledge and expertise for children and families with a Benign Haematology Conditions .

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to provide clinical expertise and knowledge, demonstrating a sound understanding of the issues related to the identification, assessment, treatment and management of the child with a haematology condition and their families. The post holder will monitor and improve standards of care through, supervision of practice, clinical audit, evidence based practice, teaching and supporting professional colleagues and the provision of skilled professional leadership and will actively contribute to the clinical governance processes within the service. You will play a key role in delivering high quality care alongside the multi-disciplinary team acting as a positive role model within the department for staff, patients and carers.

The successful candidate will work with and support the children with benign haematology disorders and work closely within the MDT to plan and manage patient pathways of treatment for children and families with a diagnosis of leukaemia. They will provide specialist knowledge and expertise for children and families. Provide advice, information and support to staff caring for these children and families within the haematology/oncology department.
