Job summary

Due to a re-structure an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Dietitian with Colorectal experience to join our brilliant Gastro-luminal & Colorectal dietetic team at Band 7 level.

If you are highly motivated, passionate about Colorectal Dietetics and enjoy delivering clinical excellence as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) in a large teaching hospital, then this job is for you!

You will be supported by our Dietetic Team lead, cross-cover and jointly manage the well-established Gastro-luminal & Colorectal team. Working alongside our Band 7 Senior specialist Gastro-luminal Dietitian, you will jointly lead on service delivery, evaluation, and development.

To apply for this post, you must have current HCPC registration and a degree, postgraduate diploma or master's degree in Dietetics.

You will have access to regular continuous professional development (CPD) opportunities, journal clubs and clinical updates. There will be opportunities to undertake research activities with the support of the GIMS Research Team.

Main duties of the job

Experience in complex nutrition support, including Parenteral Nutrition (PN) is essential. You will deliver high-quality, evidenced based care to surgical inpatients in our High Dependency, Surgical and gastroenterology wards, and run a monthly surgical follow-up clinic on the Oxford Road site at Manchester Royal Infirmary.

You will be a key member of the Colorectal MDT, contributing to ward rounds, MDT meetings, staff training and service development. You will also have the opportunity to work alongside our Nutrition support team. You will benefit and contribute to cross-site group supervision and service development, linking in with Gastro-luminal & Colorectal Dietitians based at our Wythenshawe and North Manchester sites to develop evidence-based guidelines and embed them in practice.

As one of the seven Senior Specialist Dietitians in the Acute and Rehab (A&R) team, you will be part of cross specialities working groups. You'll have the opportunity to work jointly with other dietetic experts in their fields (HPB, Haematology, Critical care, and Head & Neck) and help develop our cohesive A&R team of twenty Dietitians.

You will be an integral part of our student training programme and support the learning and development of colleagues in a relaxed and supportive environment. Our team of seven Band 6s rotate yearly through specialities and you will support the development of their competencies.
