Job summary
Cardiothoracic Critical Care Unit is the North West centre for Cardiopulmonary Transplantation, including the VAD (ventricular assist device) programme, an established respiratory ECMO service and as part of our heart failure service we are able to provide cardiac ECMO. It consists of a 26 bedded purpose built Cardiothoracic Critical Care Unit and 5 bedded satellite Post Operative Recovery Unit, combining both level 3 and level 2 care.
As a team, we are committed to delivering the highest standards of care, and encourage and support staff development with our excellent practice education team who provide continuous support throughout.
Main duties of the job
CTCCU is currently in a position to appoint a seconded full time Band 7 Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to cover Maternity Leave. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated individual to lead and support our nursing team.
The unit is a centre for excellence of Cardiothoracic surgery, Cardiopulmonary transplantation and Heart Failure. The unit is the home of a successful mechanical support and Ventricular Assist Device programme which supports patients with heart failure. CTCCU is also home to one of the 5 specially commissioned respiratory ECMO services, with patients being referred from across the North West and beyond.
CTCCU is a purpose built 31 bedded unit combining patients with both level 2 and level 3 care. As a team we are committed to delivering the highest standards of care. The unit encourages and supports staff development with our education team and has close links with the Critical Skills Institute and other educational providers within Greater Manchester.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their ability to support the unit management, support a team of nurses, support staff within the challenging environment and have knowledge of the quality improvement campaigns.
