Job summary

Trafford CAMHS is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced family therapist. The Highly Specialist Systemic Family Therapist will carry out systemic assessments of children and young people with complex mental health presentations. They will document the outcome of these assessments, providing formulation, diagnosis, and recommendations for interventions. They will offer a range of individual, family and group therapeutic interventions, including risk management, appropriate for young people and families attending the Service. Through dynamic leadership you will offer support and encouragement to the multi-disciplinary team to deliver systemic interventions. You will work with the principals of co-production, inclusion, equality, and accessibility at the heart of your leadership.

You will contribute to the development of the CAMHS Systemic Family Therapy pathway and you will have the opportunity to be involved in service development and quality improvement projects.

You will form part of the CAMHS Supervision Structure and will offer supervision and line management as appropriate.

Trafford CAMHS is in the town of Sale in Greater Manchester and serves a diverse community. You will be part of an expanding and energetic CAMHS team . Main duties of the job

The role will include:

  • Work with children and families with mental health and social problems using a variety of approaches coherent with a systemic perspective.
  • Applying analytical skills to multi-layered complex cases.
  • Formulating comprehensive assessments and offer effective treatment based on systemic principles.
  • Providing ongoing treatment in complex, often unstable, and frequently changing circumstances.
  • Liaising with and management of complex professional networks in relation to individuals and families.
  • Consulting to professional colleagues within and outside CAMHS.
  • Having excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Routinely measuring clinical outcomes and deliver evidence-based clinical interventions.
  • Providing clinical leadership and specialist treatment and assessment within your professional sphere of expertise in the service

Essential criteria

  • Post-graduate training in systemic family therapists as accredited by IFT or AFT.
  • Previous qualification in a relevant profession such as social work, nursing, teaching, psychology, or counselling.
  • Substantial length of practice in relevant first profession
  • Significant experience of work with children and adolescents in a mental health or equivalent setting
  • Experience of teaching, supervision and/or consultation
