Job summary

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in the development of a Maternal Medicine Network within the Northwest.

Maternal Medicine Networks are central to NHS England's Improvement strategy for reducing mortality for all pregnant woman and reducing neonatal morbidity and mortality. They are also a key feature of the Long-Term Plan and more recent Ockenden Reports. The aim of Maternal Medicine Network (MMN) is to ensure women with acute and chronic medical problems have timely access to specialist advice and care at all stages of pregnancy.

The Lead Midwife will work with the Network Manager, MMN Clinical Lead, the MMN Chair of the Board, and all key individuals within the MMN footprint to further develop and sustain efficient, effective and high-quality specialist services capable of meeting all statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the midwifery clinical leadership of the Northwest MMN providing strategic leadership to support the development of an effective, high quality, multi-agency/ disciplinary MMN for the Northwest with a key focus on addressing inequalities in all aspects of care.

The Lead Midwife will support the strategic development of the Maternal Medicine Centres (MMCs) and specialist services throughout the region by building a commitment to partnership working and improving the alignment of services.
