Job summary
The National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) funds Biomedical Research Centres (BRCs) as experimental medicine centres of excellence via competitive application every five years. Manchester Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) has recently been renewed over five years to provide experimental medicine infrastructure funding across Greater Manchester, Lancashire and South Cumbria.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a diagnostic radiographer to join our imaging team at the BHF Manchester Centre for Heart & Lung Magnetic Resonance Research (MCMR), located at Wythenshawe Hospital. The successful candidate will work alongside cardiologists, multi-disciplinary fellows, physicists, nurses and radiographers to support cutting edge research in cardiac MR and other areas of the body. The MCMR unit, which opened in 2020 with the commissioning of a cardiac optimised Siemens 3T Vida scanner, undertakes research into methodology, disease diagnosis, progression and treatment, image analysis as well as transitional research into clinical practice. The post will allow the successful candidate to build on their already extensive knowledge and experience in MR imaging and will suit someone who thrives in a dynamic, progressive working environment.
An NIHR BRC Cardiovascular themed award has been given to fund part of this post for 2 years from commencement of employment.
Main duties of the job
As an NHS employed diagnostic radiographer you will have access to the many benefits of working in an internationally regarded organisation. Provision of an optimal MRI service alongside other radiographers in the MCMR team.
