Job summary
We are Trafford Local Care Organisation - a public sector organisation bringing together NHS community health services and adult social care services in Trafford. Our aim is to improve the health of local people in Trafford by working across organisational boundaries .
Our community healthcare teams in adults and children's services are employed by Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and deployed to us, linking closely with our colleagues in Manchester Local Care Organisation.
Our teams work as one, and together we will make a massive difference to the health of people in Trafford.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking to recruit a part-time motivated and Registered Nurse (RN) to work in the School Health Service across the Borough - this will be a 12-month, fixed-term contract (to September 2024).
The post will be based at any one of our four Trafford neighbourhoods (base to be confirmed after interview) but may on occasion involve the post holder working across all the School Health teams depending on service needs.
This post presents an exciting opportunity to work within a skill-mixed team, supporting the Senior School Nurses in the delivery of the School Health Programme, and delivering a range of services to school-age children and their families and carers.
You will use a child-centred and public health approach to improve the health of school-age children and will establish respectful, trusting relationships with children, young people, families and carers using the appropriate form of communication. Knowledge of national and local health strategies relevant to children and young people is essential.
You must have good communication skills, the ability to work using own initiative and be computer literate. A car driver with access to a vehicle is essential.
Opportunities for training and development of school nursing skills will be available - successful applicants may be eligible to apply for the 1-year SCPHN training programme starting September/October 2024.
