Job summary

Are you a Registered Nurse with Band 6 experience in Haematology? Do you have a a proven track record of enhancing the quality of the patient experience? Then consider a move to the MRI Haematology team as a Haematology Associate Clinical Nurse Specialist.We are a regional cancer unit where excellent standards of care are underpinned by evidence based practice. The trust's Bone Marrow Transplant Service is one of the major units in the country offering a service to patients with complex medical conditions. Our friendly, experienced team works hard but enjoys what it does, often going the extra mile to spend time with patients and their families in the hope that this encourages better care. Indeed, during their time with us, each patient is supported by robust, clinically excellent renal, cardiac and critical care professionals. We are housed in a state of the art, purpose built unit that incorporates inpatient and outpatient care. The department is fully JACIE and HTA accredited. We are undertaking more bone marrow transplants each year, which means our workload will continue to expand in the future.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated nurse to join our existing Haematology Specialist Nurse team. The candidate will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills in order to provide holistic assessment, care and support to patients with the diagnosis of haematology cancers.

Main duties of the job

Working closely with the Haematology Consultants and existing Haematology Specialist Nursing team you will provide advanced care and support to your own caseload of patients. The successful applicant will need to be able to work autonomously as well as be part of a strong team who all share a passion, drive and commitment to delivering excellent patient care. We are looking for someone with a mature and thorough approach to their work and a real desire to take the service forward through quality initiatives and expanding nursing roles. You will have a clear understanding of the role of the Clinical Nurse Specialist as a clinical expert, leader, researcher and educator. You will act as the key worker for patients who have been diagnosed with malignant haematological conditions. Your role will be an integral part of the Haematology department and you will be expected to contribute to educational sessions and MDT meetings regularly. You will also be committed to the development of specialist nursing practice and demonstrate evidence of on-going professional and academic development. You'll be encouraged to expand your knowledge, skills and competencies within a supported and friendly environment with training opportunities available to support you along the way.
