Job summary

A new opportunity has arisen for one full time Band 7 Community Diabetes Specialist Nurse (CoDES Team) to cover maternity leave. The successful applicant will join the Manchester Royal infirmary diabetes team and the post will involve working alongside GP practices, district nursing teams and other community-based teams across Central Manchester to offer support, advice, and education.

We also work closely with consultants, outpatient diabetes services and the pre-conception service within the Diabetes, Endocrine and Metabolism centre (D.E.M).

We provide specialist support and advice to adults and young adults with Type 2 diabetes

Main duties of the job

We require a motivated, dynamic nurse to join a friendly team of diabetes specialists. Effective communication skills are essential and being able to work both within a team environment and independently; organising and prioritising individual workload is crucial to this role.

Experience in managing diabetes care is essential, as is a willingness to learn new skills appropriate to the post.

The post will be suitable for nurses working within a diabetes specialist area who may want to expand their skills, but would also be suitable for an experienced nurse who can demonstrate a strong interest in diabetes and is willing to develop their skills and knowledge in diabetes care.

The post holder must be able to demonstrate excellent clinical, communication and interpersonal skills to maintain the excellent standards of diabetes care our patients expect.
