Job summary

We are searching for a clinician to cover maternity cover for a 12 month fixed term within Salford's Route 29 service.

Salford Children's Services have been transforming services by developing an innovative No Wrong Door service for young people aged 12-17 , their families and networks. Route 29 is the name for this service that was chosen in consultation with young people. It provides support at the earliest opportunity to keep families together. The Route 29 team is a multi-agency partnership supporting adolescents in care, on the edge of care or edging towards care. Partners are social care, health, education and police. The Route29 team work from a dedicated hub from which

all services will be provided. Their approach embraces a closer working relationship with adolescents - a 'working with' rather than a 'doing to' approach. As a result of the integrated approach, young people will not need to repeat their story to each professional, no matter which agency is involved. Having no preconceived time limits on the duration of support enables change to happen at a pace that the young person can manage and will have a greater opportunity for sustained improvements and future outcomes.

Main duties of the job

The Senior Clinical Psychologist/Senior Mental Health Practitioner will be one of the clinicians (others are an Educational Psychologist and Speech and Language Therapist) working with the team to offer trauma, adversity and attachment-based formulation plus some direct clinical work and clinical supervision. The team emphasis is on building relationships with young people, their families and networks which are much wider than traditional clinic-based CAMH working relationships. For this reason, each member of the team will be interviewed by young people as well as a professional panel.

The post holder will have an office base for one day a week in Salford CAMHS, a vibrant community specialist CAMHS team, in order to maintain practice and professional links, and will have access to additional supervision and support from the Salford Looked After Children's CAMHS service.
