Specialist Speech and Language Therapist - Neuro ESD

Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Speech & Language Therapist to join our team to lead in the provision of therapy to patients in our Neuro ESD service.
The ESD service provides time-limited, intensive, specialist neuro, home-based rehab with patients in the Southampton city and surrounding Hampshire region, the service accepts patients primarily from UHS, but also from other local acute units. The service also supports community-based clients, with a neurological diagnosis, to ensure they can remain in their homes.
The successful post holder will work as the SLT within the ESD team. They will work closely with the other multidisciplinary team members consisting of Team leader, Trainee ACP, Physio's, Psychologists, OT's, Rehab Assistants, and admin support. You will maintain close links with the wider Community and Inpatient SLT services.
ESD is part of HIOWH Neuro Rehab Services, you will work alongside Neuro ESD Team and Clinical Leads and you will be supported by the Clinical Matron and Adult SLT Professional Lead. You will receive profession specific and CPD support. The post holder will have post graduate experience which must include some specific stroke/neuro clinical experience and evidence of working within an MDT. They must have an enthusiasm for providing evidence-based practice, particularly in the field of aphasia therapy.

Main duties of the job
*To work as an autonomous practitioner, assessing diagnosing, and providing timely intervention and management of communication and/or swallowing problems as a member of the team.
*Contribute to data collection, where relevant as member of MDT.
*To work as part of an interdisciplinary neurological community team, in close collaboration with other relevant services/agencies e.g. acute stroke unit, community rehab teams, virtual wards, rapid response etc.
*To provide clinical support, where appropriate to other colleagues, including students.
*To contribute to client information, manage priorities, organise equipment/resources and liaise with other SLTs about continuing care following discharge.
*To be flexible in providing cover to community settings where most needed, as directed by the clinical services manager.
*To contribute, wherever possible, to the administrative processes that ensure the mostefficient service delivery for clients.
