Emergency Practitioner (Nurse/Paramedic)

The closing date is 05 April 2026

Job summary

Be part of a service we're proud to shout about!

Are you an experienced urgent or emergency care clinician looking to take the next step? Do you thrive in fast paced settings where your advanced skills and clinical judgement make a real impact? Could be your ideal next move?

Our Urgent Treatment Centre was recently rated GOOD by the CQC -- a reflection of the safe, compassionate, high quality care our team delivers. We're proud of this and excited for what's ahead. This is your chance to join our service where your expertise will help shape the future.

As an Emergency Practitioner, you'll work autonomously to assess, diagnose, and treat patients with undifferentiated urgent presentations. You'll be a senior clinical presence -- a confident decision maker, mentor, and role model.

You'll bring advanced skills in managing minor injury and illness, alongside a passion for safe, person centred care. In return, you'll join a team that values your ideas and experience.

We're seeking a motivated, compassionate nurse or paramedic with strong urgent or emergency care experience. You'll be confident working independently, skilled in risk management, and committed to delivering outstanding care.

If you're ready for a senior role where you can influence practice, support colleagues, and contribute to a high performing service, we'd love to welcome you.

This is more than a job, it's a chance to join a proud, forward looking service where development is supported and your impact is felt every day.

Main duties of the job

The Emergency Practitioner will provide advanced, autonomous clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to patients presenting to the Urgent Treatment Centre with undifferentiated and acute illnesses or injuries.

Working as an expert clinician, the post holder will deliver high quality, patient centred care, using enhanced clinical skills to manage a broad spectrum of conditions safely and effectively.

The role is central to supporting timely access to urgent care, reducing waiting times, and ensuring patients receive the right care in the right place. The practitioner will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, offering clinical leadership in the role of clinician in charge, supporting junior staff, and contributing to service development, quality improvement, and the delivery of evidence based practice.

The post holder will act as an autonomous decision maker, exercising professional judgement in complex and unpredictable situations, while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety, clinical excellence, and compassionate care.

The role requires substantial experience working within urgent care, emergency care, or a comparable acute clinical environment. The post holder will draw on this background to make complex clinical decisions, manage risk confidently, and ensure patients receive timely, appropriate interventions.
