Main duties of the job
The Emergency Practitioner will provide advanced, autonomous clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to patients presenting to the Urgent Treatment Centre with undifferentiated and acute illnesses or injuries.
Working as an expert clinician, the post holder will deliver high quality, patient centred care, using enhanced clinical skills to manage a broad spectrum of conditions safely and effectively.
The role is central to supporting timely access to urgent care, reducing waiting times, and ensuring patients receive the right care in the right place. The practitioner will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, offering clinical leadership in the role of clinician in charge, supporting junior staff, and contributing to service development, quality improvement, and the delivery of evidence based practice.
The post holder will act as an autonomous decision maker, exercising professional judgement in complex and unpredictable situations, while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety, clinical excellence, and compassionate care.
The role requires substantial experience working within urgent care, emergency care, or a comparable acute clinical environment. The post holder will draw on this background to make complex clinical decisions, manage risk confidently, and ensure patients receive timely, appropriate interventions.
