Job summary
The Resident Trust Doctor in General Adult Psychiatry will provide highquality clinical care to adults admitted to Ruby Ward at Elmleigh Hospital, a 33bed acute mental health inpatient unit. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the postholder will deliver comprehensive psychiatric and physical health assessments, formulate management plans, prescribe evidencebased treatments, and contribute to risk assessment and safeguarding processes. The role includes completing discharge summaries, ordering and interpreting investigations, liaising with medical specialties, and participating in CPAs, tribunals, and professional meetings.
The doctor will support patient recovery through collaborative care planning and effective engagement with carers and community teams. They will contribute to clinical governance, audits, and quality improvement, while maintaining accurate clinical documentation and adhering to Trust policies. The post offers opportunities for CPD, teaching, supervision, and career development, including support toward CESR if desired. With no oncall duties and strong organisational support, the role provides a structured, educationally rich environment within a modern, integrated mental health service.
Main duties of the job
*Provide Clinical input for the service users who are admitted to the ward.
*Complete Physical health examinations, order investigations, ability to obtain blood samples, ECG interpretation, liaise with the medical specialists to refer and discuss medical concerns involving the patients.
*Complete Discharge summaries, order TTO, review and interpret pathology results.
*Prescribe adequate treatment as per the BNF and NICE Guidelines recommendations
*Involvement CPAs, Professionals' meetings , Tribunal Hearings, and MDT meetings.
*Audit and Clinical Governance.
*Undergo regular appraisal throughout the post.
*Attend Trust educational and departmental meetings when applicable.
*Demonstrate awareness of national and local guidelines relating to specialty (e.g. NICE guidelines) and influence care developments in accordance with these.
*Identify, contribute to or lead on aspects in the development and dissemination of evidence-based guidelines, standards and protocols as required and implement change to improve the quality of patient care.
*Attend local, regional and national networks/meetings
*Present at seminars/conferences/meeting
