Job summary

The New Forest CAMHS team are seeking a full time Mental Health Practitioner to join the already well established and supportive team.

The team is passionate about working with children and young people and providing the best evidence based practice to support them to improve their mental health and progress with hope for the future. We are made up of a Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT) of innovative and dynamic clinicians who have worked hard to find new ways of providing clinical care to the young people they work with. You will work within a team with a passion for delivering high quality clinical assessment and interventions and that keep the young person and their family at the heart of the work we do. Hampshire CAMHS has established care pathways which you will work across, including both supporting neurodevelopmental assessments and individual and group therapeutic work.

The service supports people in their career journey offering development and training opportunities to enhance clinical practice. We would love to hear from you if you wish to be part of our team and make a positive difference to the lives of children, young people and their families.

Main duties of the job

You will work in partnership with children, young people (CYP) and their families to deliver high quality assessments and evidence based interventions for those presenting with complex mental health needs. Using your specialist skills, you will complete initial assessments, contribute to duty system responsibilities, develop collaborative care plans, and deliver both one to one and group interventions. You will also support neurodevelopmental assessments and contribute to the ongoing development of the team and wider service, including supervising and mentoring colleagues and students.

You will demonstrate a strong understanding of clinical interventions relevant to CYP and work closely with carers, families and partner agencies to facilitate these effectively. At all times, you will promote the safety, wellbeing and recovery of CYP and their families.

The role involves supporting young people across a broad range of clinical pathways and working closely with clinicians from services including the Single Point of Access, Early Help, Urgent Assessment and Home Treatment (i2i), Eating Disorders, and others to ensure coordinated and high quality care.
