Job summary
The Community Perinatal Mental Health Service currently has an exciting opportunity to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Parent Infant Practitioner (PIP) to join the Team. The PIP role is a pivotal one within the multidisciplinary perinatal team -- with a varied and diverse profile of interventions offered to women/birthing people and their families at a very crucial time of the parent/s and child life. This is a fantastic opportunity to enhance family wellbeing within this mental health specialism.
In addition, this is a new innovative opportunity for development of skills and knowledge in post, leading to pay progression. This development role starts at band 4 with progression to Band 5 once a competency framework is completed. There will be access to specialist training to enable continued development of knowledge and key interventions to help enhance the parent /infant bond and attachment.

Main duties of the job
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Perinatal Community Mental Health Team provides mental health support and services for women/birthing people and their families during pregnancy and up to 24 months after birth. The team prioritizes women/birthing people with moderate to severe and complex mental health needs. The service also provides consultation for advice, information and signposting for women/birthing people with a less severe mental illness in the perinatal period to primary care providers including GP's Health visitors and maternity services as well as the women themselves.
Your main responsibilities would be to:
*Work as a team player.
*Provide practical support to antenatal and post-natal women/birthing people in the community.
*Support women/birthing people in enhancing the attachment and bonding process.
*Provide high quality of care and emotional support at all times.
*Provide families with best practice in baby care.
*Provide advice and support on all aspects of baby care.
*Participate in assessment of needs, planning, implementation and evaluation of care programmes for women/birthing people and their babies.
*Maintain our service users' confidentiality and adhere the Trust's Policies and Procedures.
*Help supporting families to understand baby's perspective.
