Job summary
We are looking for a compassionate, skilled and motivated Sexual Health Nurse to join our dynamic clinical team based in Basingstoke.
The role involves delivering high-quality, patient-centred sexual and reproductive health services to a diverse community. You will play a key role in promoting sexual health, preventing sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and supporting patients with confidential, non-judgmental care.
The postholder will be dual trained to provide sexual health and contraceptive care to service users, working within a suite of Patient Group Directives or as an independent prescriber to issue medications.
You will work autonomously in accordance with nationally recognised and locally developed guidelines, and in partnership within the multidisciplinary team, supporting service improvements and innovations.
A training post (band 5-6) would be considered for the right candidate.

Main duties of the job
Adhere to clearly defined service procedures and guidelines as directed, including Systems Thinking principles.
Provide a service, in a variety of settings, recognising the sensitive and contentious nature of the work.
The post holder will work to Patient Group Directions (PGDs) or as an Non Medical Prescriber to supply and administer a variety of first time and repeat contraceptives, as well as antibiotics and antifungals used to manage STIs and other genitourinary conditions. This includes a variety of vaccinations.
Support HIV cohort to access appropriate care and triage of HIV patients.
To work across the service in both Hub and Spoke venues, in a variety of shift patterns including evenings and a weekend provision on a rotational basis to meet the needs of the service.
To undertake phone calls via service wide call plans, booking appointments, undertaking remote consultations, clinical triage, treatment by post consultations, sexual health advice and signposting.
Undertake allocated link Nurse duties which may include; Safeguarding, infection prevention and Control, Wellbeing or HIV.
As agreed within the needs of the service and adhering to ethical guidelines for nursing staff, be able to refer to Termination of Pregnancy Services and work in partnership with this care provider.
Be responsible for maintaining professional knowledge and competency in all areas of work.
Work in accordance with and maintain professional yearly registration with the NMC.
