Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with relevant experience in community mental health to join the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Perinatal Mental Health Service.
The Hampshire, Frimley and Isle of Wight Perinatal Mental Health Service is a well established and pioneering specialist service consisting of an expert multidisciplinary community team and a mother and baby inpatient unit. The service is also an early implementer site for Maternity Mental Health Services, broadening the remit and profile of specialist interventions available for women/birthing people/birthing people and ensuring an enhanced care pathway. The Perinatal Community Team provides a specialist community service for the assessment and treatment of women with severe mental health problems in pregnancy and up to 2 years postnatal.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an experienced mental health nurse or practitioner with an interest in the field of Perinatal Mental Health to join our duty team. The role of Perinatal Duty mental health practitioner will be to work within the duty team and brief intervention pathway of the Perinatal service to provide timely assessment and contact to patients who have been referred to the service. Duty assessments and contacts are undertaken via video and telephone call. The role also includes working as part of our Brief Intervention pathway within the service to identify and provide brief perinatal interventions to patients with low risk, non-complex perinatal illness.
The successful candidate will be working closely with the duty team and wider team, psychology and medical staff to ensure our service users are given the best care and experience whilst part of the duty pathway, as well as working with outside organisations to ensure robust joint working where needed.
The team base is at Southern House which is located in Otterbourne, nr Winchester, however the service covers the whole of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Therefore, the duty function also covers all areas of the Isle of Wight and Hampshire.
Car Driver is essential. Hybrid working is possible.
