Preceptorship and Professional Development Educator (MH)

Job summary

The post holder will be an integral member of the Clinical Education and Development Team, committed to supporting the development, progression, and retention of registered healthcare professionals across the Trust, including those within Nursing and Allied Health Professions. The role focuses on enhancing staff knowledge, skills, competence, and confidence to ensure a skilled, diverse workforce capable of delivering highquality, compassionate, personcentred care.

Working across classroom, hybrid, online, and clinical practice settings, the post holder will contribute to the coordination, delivery, and evaluation of a range of education and development initiatives. This includes supporting the Senior Preceptorship and Professional Development Educator in delivering the Trust's Preceptorship programme and other identified training pathways.

Main duties of the job

*Act as a positive professional role model in promoting clinical excellence and ensuring that high levels of clinical excellence and attitude are maintained and promoted

*Provide a variety of high quality, evidence based, clinical education and training sessions / programmes across HIOWH, including Preceptorship, whilst supporting learning and assessment in clinical practice

*Promote a positive working and learning environment providing support through coaching, mentoring and reflective practice to enhance knowledge and skills

*Identify and promote clinical learning opportunities as appropriate

*Support in the completion of assessments in practice

*Support the development, practice and assessment of clinical competence

*Ensure all training, information and guidance provided is up to date and evidence based

*Support registered Nurses and Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) to access and complete the Trust's Preceptorship programme within the recommended timeframe

*Work with clinical teams to support in creating a positive learning environment, and promote a culture of learning

*Support the Clinical Education and Development Team with regards to identifying learning needs in practice and meeting Organisational objectives

*Liaise and work collaboratively with clinical practice areas to ensure consistency across the setting and blended learning approaches to support the transfer of learning and skill attainment

  • Professional registration as a Mental Health Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Recognised learner support qualification (Practice Assessor, Practice Supervisor)

Desirable

  • Teaching qualification i.e. PTLLS/Award in Education and Training
  • Coaching experience and/or
  • Professional Nurse Advocate
