AHP Student Educator - Mental Health Occupational Therapist

Job summary

We are looking for an AHP Student Educator Mental Health Occupational Therapist to join our team on a fixed term or on a secondment opportunity.

The post holder will assist the Senior Learning Experience & Environment Educator and Senior Student Educators in coordinating, delivering and evaluating identified training programmes for student support and other practice education training subjects for staff. The purpose of the role is to provide increased visibility across the trust in student placement areas.

The post holder will assist the Senior AHP Student Educator in meeting the organisational commitment to training and staff development fulfilling national and local clinical standards guidelines and policies.

This role will provide a comprehensive and effective range of support to identified training programmes and work flexibly at venues across the Trust.

The post holder will be given the opportunity to positively promote NMC/HCPC standards and develop educational standards within the trust, such as educational audits and support in improved learning environments. Working with students within practice settings, to improve the quality and number of skilled practice educators within HIOWH In doing this they will be expected to be involved in the delivery of practice education and support assessment of learners in practice. They will also be expected to support the assessment of clinical competence of staff in respect to supporting students in practice.

Main duties of the job

Provide high quality evidence-based practice education and training sessions across HIOWH, and supporting all learners in clinical practice.

Work closely with the Senior Learning Experience & Environment Educator and Senior Student Educators to identify clinical areas that require support.

Work with clinical teams to support them in creating a positive learning environment by working closely with Supervisors, Preceptors, Practice Teachers and Learners within clinical settings.

Support the Clinical Education and Development Team with regards to identifying further learning needs in practice and meeting Organisational objectives

Identify appropriate placement opportunities for all students, apprentices and record and monitor

To continue to identify areas of growth within clinical settings to support learners

Support clinical staff and learners in the completion of practice assessments of students in practice as appropriate

Act as a positive professional role model in promoting clinical excellence and offer expert professional development advice (within scope of practice) ensuring that high levels of clinical excellence and attitude are maintained and promoted at all times

Supporting the Clinical Education and Development Team with compiling information and be an active part of internal and external audit processes i.e. Care Quality Commission (CQC) and at strategic / board level.
