Job summary

Due to extended funding of the Multi-Agency Stalking Partnership, we are looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and ambitious band 7 or 8a Specialist Psychologist to be part of this unique and highly innovative service, working with stalking perpetrators and those who manage them, across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

This role is a rare chance to be part of this award-winning service, providing unique opportunities to develop your skills and your career in the cutting-edge specialism of the psychology of stalking. Working alongside experts in the field, the post provides a unique chance to develop your clinical skills in working with perpetrators who present with a variety of personality issues and mental health needs.

This role requires previous experience of working within forensic mental health services. However, expert knowledge of, and experience of working with, stalking perpetrators is not required. You will receive comprehensive training in working with stalking, including training in using the Stalking Risk Profile and relevant therapies. The role would suit a band 7 or band 8a psychologist (role requirements will be amended to suit).

The service is based in Ravenswood House, Fareham, but the work is delivered in a range of NHS and non-NHS premises (e.g. Probation offices) across Hampshire. There is the opportunity for home working via virtual means as part of the working week. Personal wellbeing is valued and flexible working arrangements will be considered.

Main duties of the job

The role of a Highly Specialist Psychologist in the Multi Agency Stalking Partnership is to be part of a specialist team who provide expert consultation, formulation, and intervention in relation to service users within the criminal justice system who have engaged in stalking.

This innovative service is at the forefront of psychological work with people who engage in stalking and as such, subject specific prior expertise is not required. A commitment to developing knowledge and skills regarding working with stalking, through continual professional development, is expected. The role will require adaptation of known psychological principles and techniques to assist in the continued development of interventions and approaches to manage offenders in this field. The aim is to ensure that intervention and management of people who have offended is psychologically informed.

The expected outcomes of the service are to reduce repeat offending, improve psychological wellbeing, increase access to services, and to develop a workforce across the criminal justice system with the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and confidence in working with this population.The specialist, psychologist-led team comprises of a Principal Clinical Psychologist & Clinical Lead, a forensic psychologist, another clinical/forensic psychologist (this post) a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist and an administrator, the whole team is in regular contact with our colleagues from Probation, Police and victim advocacy.
