If that sounds like something you interested in, the Occupational Therapy service at Ravenswood House are looking for a part time (30hrs - 33.75hrs) Band 6 OT.

We seek a passionate, and dynamic Occupational Therapist to provide excellent care for male service users in a mental health, forensic, medium and low secure setting.

Forensics is such an interesting field of practice. We work collaboratively with service users, with a risk history, to help them live safely and reintegrate into the community.

You would be working in the inpatient hospital and accessing the local community, to support service users to develop and maintain functional skills, through the use of the occupational therapy process. There are opportunities to build links with external agencies and step-down support, to enable service users to thrive within the least restrictive level of security.

You will use standardised and non-standardised assessments and models of practice to assess the needs of the service users and provide occupational therapy treatment. You will have the chance to be involved in service development projects and explore areas of interest that fit the role of an OT. You will have responsibility for the support and development of occupational therapy assistants and provide regular supervision and appraisal.

Main duties of the job

You will work closely alongside members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team to enable the rehabilitation of service users, by building good therapeutic relationships, developing and working towards goals, maintaining safety and working together with service users on their recovery journey.

Working in secure services is rewarding but can be challenging at times so it is important to be resilient and recognise the need to manage personal wellbeing. To do this you will be supported with a comprehensive induction, ongoing training and monthly supervision.

You will be required to take part in PMVA (Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression) training and will be part of the PMVA team of staff that maintain the safety in the service. This is a physical role and having a good level of mobility and fitness is required.

Being a car driver is also preferred, due to the need to support service users to access the community to build skills and reintegrate into the local area.
